Sitelinks

In short

Sitelinks are additional links to other pages of a website shown beneath the main result, usually for branded searches. Google generates them automatically; you can't add them directly.

What they look like#

Search for a well-known brand and you’ll often see the homepage result followed by links like “Pricing”, “Login”, “Blog” and “Contact”. They make the result bigger, more useful and much more clickable.

  • Have a clear site structure with descriptive main navigation.
  • Use concise, unique titles and headings on key pages.
  • Link important pages from the homepage with clear anchor text.
  • Add BreadcrumbList and WebSite structured data with your site name.
  • Build brand demand — sitelinks appear mostly for branded searches.

There’s no longer a “demote” tool in Search Console. If a page you don’t want appears, make it less prominent: noindex it if it shouldn’t be in search at all, or reduce internal links to it and strengthen the pages you do want.

Related: website architecture, breadcrumbs.
