People Also Ask (PAA)

In short

People Also Ask is a Google search feature showing expandable related questions, each with a short answer pulled from a web page. Clicking one reveals more questions, making PAA a goldmine for content ideas.

Why PAA matters#

  • It shows the follow-up questions real searchers ask about a topic.
  • Each answer links to a source page — another chance to appear on page one.
  • Questions often reveal intent shifts and subtopics your content should cover.

Using PAA for content#

  1. Search your target keyword and expand 3–5 PAA questions to load more.
  2. Group questions into themes; each theme can become an H2 or H3 in your article.
  3. Answer each question directly in the first 40–60 words of its section, then add detail.
  4. Use the leftover questions for an FAQ section at the end.
  5. Tools like AlsoAsked map PAA trees if you want to go deeper.
Note on FAQ schema Since 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for authoritative government and health sites. Your FAQ section still helps readers and answer engines — this theme still marks it up with FAQPage schema because it accurately describes the content.
